Most repair advice online assumes you’re carrying an iPhone or a Galaxy. Plenty of people on the southern Gold Coast aren’t – and a cracked Pixel or a tired OPPO battery shouldn’t mean buying a new phone.

HocoTech repairs Apple iPhone, Samsung, OPPO, Google Pixel, Motorola and Nothing Phone devices where parts are available.

Why the brand matters less than the model

For any phone, what decides whether a repair is possible is parts availability for that specific model – not the logo on the back. Popular models are well supported. Less common ones, or models that were never sold widely in Australia, can be harder to source parts for.

So the most useful thing you can tell us is the exact model, not just the brand. On most phones you’ll find it in Settings under About, or printed on the SIM tray or the back of the device.

What we can usually look at

  • Screen replacements – cracked glass, dead touch zones, lines or dark patches.
  • Battery replacements – batteries that drain fast, swell slightly, or shut the phone down early in the day.
  • Other common repairs – charging ports and the everyday faults that come with a phone that’s been dropped, pocketed and rained on.

We’ll confirm parts availability and let you know what’s involved before anything goes ahead.

If you’ve just cracked the screen

Don’t press on the glass and don’t keep using a phone with a damaged screen if touch is unreliable. If the screen still responds, back up your photos and messages now. Our guide to what to do in the first 24 hours after a cracked screen walks through it step by step.

Pixel, OPPO and Nothing owners: a couple of specifics

  • Google Pixel – the camera bar and curved edges on some models mean the screen is best replaced as a unit rather than patched, so a photo of the damage helps us tell you what’s likely involved.
  • OPPO – model naming varies a lot between regions, which is exactly why we ask for the model number rather than the marketing name.
  • Nothing Phone – the transparent back and visible internals make these look more fragile than they are, but they still need care when opened, and parts availability varies by model.

Getting it repaired locally

Bring your phone into our Coolangatta store, or use our Come-to-You mobile repair service and have a technician come to you in the local area. Either way, if you’ve been quoted elsewhere, it’s worth a second opinion before you decide a phone isn’t worth saving – a lot of devices people write off are a straightforward repair.
